In January of 1999, the Secretary-General of the United Nations,Mr. Kofi Annan, presented the Global Compact at the World Economic Forum, calling on business leaders to join an international initiative that will bring together companies and the UN to pursue an important challenge: an integral and sustainable global economy.
Hundreds of companies and dozens of organisations from the four corners of the world have adhered to the Global Compact thus far.The Uniland Group, along with all the other members of the Global Compact (including representatives from all industrial sectors), is undertaking a series of changes in its way of doing things so that the Global Compact and its 10 principles (which revolve around human rights, labour rights, the environment and work against all forms of corruption) are integrated into its strategy, culture, values, and day-to-day activities.
